October 27th – 29th 2025
Williams Lake, BC, Canada

Metcom Technologies is excited to announce a comprehensive two-part master class series, taking place over three days October 27th though 29th 2025 in Williams Lake, BC. This interactive workshop is tailored for plant metallurgists, lab technicians, and other industry professionals who are eager to gain practical, hands-on tools for optimizing grinding circuits.

Led by Metcom’s experts Kyle Bartholomew and Omar Arafat, these sessions will empower attendees with valuable insights and tools to measure and improve their grinding circuit’s Classification System Efficiency (CSE). Participants will also learn systematic approaches for conducting effective survey sampling campaigns, as well as laboratory analysis and data gathering strategies.

By the end of this course, participants will be equipped with the skills needed to identify and implement improvements, ultimately boosting the performance of their grinding operations. We invite you the participate in either or both of these two courses but please note that space is limited.

Workshop #1 (2-days in class)
October 27th – 28th, 2025

CSE: Pump & Cyclone Calculations to Maximize Grinding Circuit Efficiency

This CSE (Classification System Efficiency) course covers process application design calculations for slurry pumps and hydrocyclones in order to achieve their maximum benefits in terms of grinding circuit efficiency and productivity. As described in Mining Engineering Magazine, the quantifiable benefits in terms of increased tonnage, a finer grind to improve recovery, and energy and cost reduction are often very substantial.

Participants will receive in-class handouts, exercises, slide presentations, as well as online access to the following Metcom training:

After reviewing these topics, we will then present Metcom’s Streamlinetm ball mill circuit modeling application and work through various real-world exercises using the software. Participants will be granted a trail version of the software to carryout various exercises presented in class. The Streamlinetm program uses the same CSE optimization criterion as presented in Module 18 Evaluation of Circuit Classification.

Workshop fee: $1,442 USD /person

Workshop #2 (1-day in class + 5.5 hrs. online prep.)
October 29th, 2025

Plant Surveying, Laboratory Analysis and Grindability Testing

This workshop on Sampling, Lab Analysis and Grindability Testing is ideal for Lab Technicians. The online training modules for these topics typically takes about 13.5 hours to complete. To deliver this training within the one-day time frame, we will assign certain module topics as “prep-work” to be completed before the workshop with the remainder covered live in class.

Two weeks prior to the workshop, each registered attendee will be provided with a Metcom on-line training account to access all materials covered in the workshop. A guide will also be provided highlighting the specific materials that should be reviewed prior to the workshop.

Plant Mets would also benefit from learning about how to carry out survey sample collection campaigns and grindability testing. This fits nicely with the CSE workshop, where attendees learn about measuring and improving grinding efficiency. This additional workshop covers the details on how to obtain the needed data.

The anticipated training session time is estimated to be eight to nine hours per day.

This training is designed to be interactive. Time will be allocated after each topic presentation for Q&A and to relate real-life experiences from those working at the plant to the topics presented. Active participation from all attendees will be encouraged. To facilitate this interaction, attendance capacity is limited to 20 people per session.

Lunch, snacks and coffee will be provided.

In addition to the live training delivered each registered participant will be provided a personal Metcom training on-line account with registration and 12-month access to modules associated with the topics covered in the workshop. Attendees can use this online resource to review topics that were delivered in the workshop and add additional training modules to their curriculums without having to pay the $215 registration fee.

Training Accreditation

Each workshop training participant will receive CEU’s from the Engineering Institute of Canada based on the time of in-class and assigned instruction. Each workshop participant will also receive credit for the associated Metcom Training Modules. These credits can be applied towards completion of the full Metcom Grinding Process Management System training program and induction into the Metcom Honor Roll.
